It’s very different to a ‘traditional’ school in many ways, but there are four major benefits to completing Years 11 and 12 with Marcellin Technical College.

1. Real-world subjects

The best way to learn is to see what you’re learning relates to what you want to achieve … at least that’s what our students tell us. Our curriculum has been built on trade principles, using real-world subjects within an industry context  but still satisfying all the requirements of Year 12 studies under SACE.

2. Integrating school and career

We have set up our curriculum so all the work our students do points them in the right direction towards their trade career. All the work they do is hands-on or trade-related. And the feedback we get from our students is that they never thought they could learn as much as they do because it doesn’t feel like work.

3. Teacher / Mentors

Our teachers / mentors are passionate and have the student’s well-being at heart. They also have a special relationship with our students; that is different to the usual teacher - student relationship you find in a traditional school. They’re mentors, who work with students to steer them on their choice of trade path. The mentors join the students in the workshop, getting their hands dirty and working on projects with the students. Our students have told us they respect the fact that they are learning from industry staff  who have lived what they’re teaching.

4. Pathways to a Trade, TAFE or University – whichever you want!
